Preventive Dental Care
The fastest, cheapest, and most comfortable dental care is the care you don't have to do later. Preventive visits are how we keep small problems small.
What a preventive visit includes
- A thorough exam — teeth, gums, bite, soft tissues, and oral cancer screening
- Digital X-rays (low radiation) when clinically indicated, typically once a year
- Professional cleaning to remove plaque and calculus your toothbrush can't reach
- Polishing to remove surface stain
- Fluoride treatment when helpful
- A clear summary of what we found and what (if anything) we recommend next
How often should you come in?
Most healthy adults do well on a six-month recall. Patients with a history of gum disease, cavity risk, or specific medical conditions may benefit from a three- or four-month interval. We'll explain our reasoning and you have the final say.
Sealants and fluoride
Dental sealants are thin protective coatings painted onto the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where most cavities start. Combined with regular fluoride treatments and good home care, sealants are a simple, effective way to lower cavity risk for patients who are prone to decay.
Oral cancer screening
Every routine exam includes a soft-tissue exam — checking your tongue, throat, cheeks, and lips for early signs of oral cancer. Most patients never need anything more than the exam itself; if something does need a closer look, we'll explain why and what comes next.
